Final week of rehearsals for our December 18th performance of Messiah. Tickets selling fast with pre-bookings available or purchase on the door

Rehearsals for Messiah take place every Monday at 7.30 pm – in the Parish Centre, next to Ambleside Parish Church. All rehearsals are conducted with full adherence to government guidelines and recommendations for the safe running of Choral groups.

We are keen to welcome new singers to our society. We do not hold auditions but would expect new members to have a rudimentary knowledge of reading music.

The Ambleside and District Choral Society is one of the leading choirs in South Cumbria and the Lake District with members coming from Ambleside, Windermere, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Coniston. We are a very friendly choir whose members really enjoy singing and we are always very keen for new members to join us.

We normally perform two major concerts in the year, one in December and the other in April/May and take a break during the summer months of June, July and August. Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 pm in Ambleside. There is a modest fee for singing with the choir which can either be paid annually or at the beginning of each term.

Joining the Choir!

If you are interested, you are very welcome to come along for a trial period to see if you enjoy it. We suggest you contact the chairman or secretary in the first place (see the Contact Us page) or use the contact page on this website.

Expectation of members
It is very much hoped members will spend time between rehearsals familiarising themselves with the music and words. This makes for greater enjoyment of the singing and ultimately benefits the whole choir.

Informal rehearsals are sometimes held for each voice part for those who value extra support nearer the concert and we encourage the use of a wide range of free on-line part resources to ensure rehearsals can be spent fine tuning the pieces rather than note-bashing.
